Hi there
i am currently makin a short film and i want to do one of the scenes backward, you know like Coldplay's video for 'The Scientist.' does anyone know how i can achieve this (without just making my actors walk backward! lol!) i need to know if it requires a certain editing package to do it. I have pinnacle studio 8 but i cant seem to do it using that. PLease help!

its really very simple... you simply set the play speed to a minus number. But like you say you cant do it with studio, you will have to get some better software.

I hadn't seen the coldplay video before...
did a quick search, found it on rollingstone.com

for your short, are you trying to get a certain effect? as in have someone talking/walking in the forwards as everyone else is in reverse?
The coldplay guy did a great job in singing the sound backwards, it really played well in reverse!
As mentioned above, with most popular video apps you can reverse the framerate to get backwards playback... I know in Premiere you set the speed to "-100".

Just doing more searches on this topic... looking for a freeware solution... then found this!

There's an app called VideoTool Box that will reverse/mirror the playback of your AVIs!!!
The other suggestion is to take your AVI, get an app (AVI-2-BMP) to spit it out into BMP files, then use a BMP-2-AVI app to "re-order" them?!

for the coldplay video, the lead singer had to learn to sing the song backwards. food for thought.
